2008—The Graham County Superintendent’s Office, Gila
Valley Arts Council
and the Safford City-Graham County
Library today announced their partnership has received
a
grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to host
The Big Read in Graham County schools and communities.
The Big Read in
Graham County will focus on Bless Me, Ultima by
Rudolfo Anaya
for grades 10 through adults. Through
funding from the Arizona Community Foundation,
the
partnership will also support Esperanza Rising by
Pam Munoz Ryan for grades 7-9.
Activities will take
place between September and December.
The latest Big
Read grantees represent 46 states, the District of
Columbia,
and the U.S. Virgin Islands. To date, the NEA
has given more than 500 grants to support local Big Read
projects.
